Camden Town Manager Roberta Smith said Dec. 22 that she received 29 applications for the position of development director for the town. The new post was funded through a line item approved at the annual town meeting June 8, and has been temporarily filled by consultant Mathew Eddy of Eaton Peabody Consulting.

Smith said she had not yet reviewed the applications, but that they came from throughout the country as well as Maine.

A committee comprising members of the Camden Economic Development Advisory Committee will review the applications and hold a first round of interviews. Based on their recommendations, a second committee, including at least one member of the Select Board, will hold the second round of interviews.

Smith will make the final selection, and she said she hoped to have the process completed by the end of January.
