Maine’s 44 newest police officers will graduate Dec. 17 from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro at 10 a.m.

Andrew Crook will work for Rockland Police Department and Nathaniel Jack for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

The graduation speaker will be U.S. Attorney for Maine, Thomas Delahanty. The new officers completed 18 weeks of study and training at the academy including such topics as criminal and traffic law, domestic violence, firearms, first aid, crime scene processing, sexual assault and emergency vehicle operation. Many of the new officers will begin patrolling this weekend.
