Contra dance fans are invited to gather on a special night Sunday, Dec. 26 at Simonton Corner Community Hall; the monthly dance usually takes place on the fourth Saturday of the month. The dancing will begin 8 p.m., and admission will be $8 at the door, free for children.

Providing the tunes will be Celtic-rooted Lincoln County band Playgroup, featuring Abraham Stimson on fiddle, piano and bass; Alden Robinson on fiddle; Julia Plumb on fiddle, feet and hurdy-gurdy; and Zack Davis on tenor banjo, fiddle and percussion.

Unity’s John McIntire will call all dances. Beginners, singles and families are welcome. No partner or experience is required.

Bringing one’s own drinking water is recommended; free refreshments will be available. The dance hall is located at the intersection of Main and Park streets, just west of routes 1 and 90. For more information, call 832-5584 or see Simonton Corners Contradancers on Facebook.
