Warren residents will gather Monday night, Dec. 13 to vote on a town meeting warrant article that could block methadone clinics opening in the community for at least the next six months.

The special town meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Warren Community School gym.

The town meeting was called after residents gathered signatures demanding such a moratorium vote. The six-month moratorium on all medical or methadone clinics in the community would give the town time to create zoning to regulate such facilities.

CRC Health Group wants to open a methadone clinic in the former Warren school. The town owns the school property but it has a purchase-and-sale agreement with Robert Emery. That proposal has created a firestorm of opposition from residents about both the clinic and how town officials handled the negotiations in secret.
