Starting immediately, All Aboard Trolley & Limousine Co. will be providing round-trip transportation from Knox County to Bath or Brunswick for people in need of radiation (Bath) or chemotherapy (Brunswick).

In the past, patients traveling from Knox County have had to drive themselves when sick, which poses a safety risk, or ask family and friends, which can be stressful and pose a burden on them when it involves missing work and in some cases having to transport every day. In other cases the patients are too sick to drive and do not have any family or resources to count on.

“When my mother-in-law lived with us for 18 months before she passed away, we saw a need for those not able to arrange for transportation,” said Jim Gamage, owner of All Aboard Trolley & Limousine Co. “I believe the need is more than anyone realizes. We are honored to be partnering with the with The Bob Gagnon Cancer Fund and The American Cancer Society to ensure that people from the Midcoast are able to get to and from their treatments in a safe way that makes them feel supported.”

Patients may bring family and/or chaperones with them. All Aboard will bring the patient to his or her appointment and will wait during the treatment. The service is free and provided as a courtesy.

“It’s our hope that providing transportation will make the whole process a little less stressful on the patients. They will no longer have to worry about how they are going to get back and forth from treatment. It is stressful enough going through cancer, people should not have to cancel appointments because they cannot get to their treatments,” said Gamage.
