Goose River Press has announced the official publication date for “Far From Home, Selected Poems” by Damariscotta resident Ed Oestreich is Dec. 15.

For more than 50 years, Oestreich has been writing poems, a number of which have appeared in chapbooks and in one “National Poetry Anthology.” He has been invited to read at a number of venues including Round Top Center for the Arts, book stores and Maine Festival of the Arts. He also wrote articles for a variety of publications prior to moving to Maine. This will be his first published book of poetry.

Oestreich is perhaps best known for the collection of 17th- and 18th-century antiques, which furnish his 200-year-old house. His home and antique collections have been featured in several nationally published magazines, most recently in the December 2009 issue of Early American Life. Until recently, he operated his antique shop, Another Season, selling to many museums, collectors, historians and dealers. He also was a partner in Backroads Gallery and Sculpture Gardens, selling contemporary and post-modern art by artists across the country and Canada.

The books will be available from the publisher and local book stores. For more information, visit gooseriverpress.com.
