A community-wide Chanukah Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. at the Rockport Masonic Center, 361 Main St., near Simontons Corner.

Sponsored by Adas Yoshuron Synagogue of Rockland, the party is open to everyone and will be full of fun activities for all ages. Please come, and bring your family and friends, to celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights.

Featured at the Chanukah celebration will be a community menorah lighting, led by Rabbi Steven Lewis, Adas Yoshuron’s visiting rabbi, and the Hebrew School students. Visitors who have a menorah and Chanukah candles, are asked to bring them along. Rabbi Lewis will also lead a brief Havdalah ceremony, marking the end of the Sabbath.

The Adas Yoshuron Band will provide live Israeli music, and there will be dancing. And of course, there will be plenty of latkes (potato pancakes) and jelly donuts, traditional Chanukah treats. Please bring some to share. Other desserts and fruit dishes are also welcome.

The suggested donation is $5 per person, children under 12 free.

RSVPs are appreciated. For more information, or to RSVP, please call the synagogue at 594-4523, or e-mail yoshuron@midcoast.com.
