The fourth annual Christmas Rock Spectacular is set for Sunday, Dec. 5 at Roots & Tendrils, 2 Cross St. The event will start at 5:30 p.m., an earlier time that allows families to join in the musical merriment.

Featuring local Maine bands Rotundo Sealeg, Good Kids Sprouting Horns and Strawberry Allstars, the Christmas Rock Spectacular is a great way to rock into the holiday season and, this year, to do it for a great cause. A $5 donation will be requested at the door to benefit the Belfast Soup Kitchen so that those less fortunate will be able to enjoy a merry Christmas as well.

Belfast’s Christmas Rock Spectacular will be first of three such events planned throughout the state in the month of December. Anthony Bitetti of Good Kids Sprouting Horns and Lincolnville’s Nate Oldham of Rotundo Sealeg have organized a Spectacular in Orono on Friday, Dec. 10 at the Keith Anderson House; and one in Portland at Slainte on Sunday, Dec. 12. Both shows will begin at 7 p.m. and will benefit a local food distribution center in each city.

Past Christmas Rock Spectaculars have seen homemade Christmas cookies donated by the bands, hundreds of Christmas lights, free soy nog and an excellent time had by all.
