Owls Head Transportation Museum, Route 73, will host its annual family holiday concert featuring the Mid-coast Community Band as part of a free day of festivities Sunday, Dec. 5.

At 11:30 a.m., children can create their own holiday ornaments, some made from candy.  At 12:30 p.m., Santa will arrive from the North Pole in one of the museum’s planes. Upon landing, he will meet with children in the Museum’s auditorium and read “Reindeer Christmas.” Children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa. All letters will be placed in a special Polar Air Mail Express bag, then literally scooped up (by plane) to be delivered directly to the North Pole. This demonstration will take place outside on Runway 17, weather permitting.

Once the letters are safely on their way, Santa will lead the children back inside and introduce the Mid-Coast Community Band, which will play its annual holiday concert from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m. During the concert’s intermission, the museum will host the Bids for Kids wreath auction to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Museum admission will free all day, and there will be a sale at the Museum Store. Light refreshments will be served. Following the concert, the public is invited to attend an open house and tree lighting activities at the Owls Head General Store.
