Cindy Lucas, newly elected president of Owls Head Garden Club announces new members Sue Cran, Maria Green, and Jeanne Johnson, Anne Maher, Florence Thompson, Aleta Kilborn and Ute Kohn.

Owls Head Garden Club was founded in 1972 to encourage and cultivate an interest in gardening. The club aids in the protection and conservation of natural resources and the environment. Garden club members maintain numerous plantings in Owls Head. The annual Spring Plant and Bake Sale in June and other fund raising activities support the club’s scholarship programs. The club has donated to local charities, including Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry, the Knox County Meals on Wheels. Contributions have also been made to the Owls Head Central School for its garden project, and The Maine Coast Heritage Trust to assist with the purchase of Ash Island in Owls Head. New members are welcomed to make new friendships and to keep our membership strong and viable.

Other officers for the coming year are: Elizabeth Hunt, secretary and Marcia Turner, treasurer.

For the next meeting, members will meet inside the main entrance at The Farnsworth Art Museum for a docent conducted “Farnsworth Christmas Tour”.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m. There will not be a meeting in January. For more information, please call Dottie at 596-6032.
