Rockport Garden Club members may have put their gardens to bed, but they are still very busy and productive preparing for their fifth annual Holly Berry Christmas Fair held on Christmas by the Sea weekend.

The beautifully decorated gingerbread houses are almost ready for the choosing. Members have been busy painting buoys, bird houses, knitting scarves and booties. Mussel shells were collected all summer to create mussel shell trees of several sizes and for tree ornaments. Items have been collected all year for the good ‘ol Grandma’s attic section, along with great jewelry; there will also be gift items and hostess gifts.

There’s a new kid in town, “Appetizer Alley,” which is frozen appetizers for dinner or the freezer.

The proceeds from the fair go to keeping Rockport’s plants and gardens beautiful, the holiday season colorful and for several scholarships each year.

The date of the fair is Saturday, Dec. 4 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and is held at the Rockport Opera House, lower level.
