The Downeast School of Massage held commencement exercises for six new massage therapists from the 46th graduation class and approximately 100 guests on Oct. 30 at the school in Waldoboro.

Guest speaker, Cheryl Tardy, licensed massage therapist and American Massage Therapy Association Maine Chapter President gave a profound speech about the elements of a successful practice including integrity, knowledge, imagination, balance, leadership, and teamwork. Tardy offered congratulations and best wishes to the graduates, urged them all to consider volunteering as part of their individual practices, and to be active in the AMTA ME chapter.

Michelle Olson of Hope and Ken Bureau of Belgrade represented their class by speaking to the audience at graduation. Memories surfaced with laughter, gratitude, and tears representing the deep bonding shared by this class over the course of this year.

Nancy Waltz Dail, BA, nationally-certified massage therapist and director of the school, delivered a few final words before passing out diplomas with the Director of Admissions and faculty member, Emily Waltz and the Director of Education, Suzanne Ash.

Graduating were: Ken Bureau, Belgrade; Jill Cocks, Cushing; Susan McAtee, Alna; Tami McGarvey, Rangeley; Michelle Olson, Hope; and Kelli Railsback, Newcastle.
