The Visual and Performing Arts Department at Camden Hills Regional High School is pleased to award the December student of the month to Vanessa Bemis. Bemis has been involved with the arts throughout her high school career.

To start, she has played flute in the high school concert band with Nancy Rowe for the past four years.

In theater, she joined after school Tech her freshman year and has been involved with every musical since, including the winter plays her sophomore and junior year. This year’s production of “Once Upon a Mattress” had Bemis as the head set designer with Rick Ash. She also had a hand in building and painting the set.

In the visual arts, she has taken many classes in clay, and a class in painting, jewelry, and graphic design with Russell. Kahn, Suzanne Southworth, and Chris Walker-Spencer.

This year she is taking an independent study in clay and participated in a Horizons sponsored Raku workshop this fall. She is in the process of designing a logo for the Wellness room. She plans to include the arts in her college career after she graduates this spring.
