The annual sing-along “Messiah” will be held for singers who like to open the holiday season with the experience of Handel’s famous work. This year’s event will be held at a new day and time, Saturday, Dec. 4 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 11 White St.

At 2 p.m., a short rehearsal will prepare the pick-up chorus for singing at 3 p.m. Those with copies of the music are asked to bring it. There will be copies available if needed.

People who love this famous and ubiquitous work join together annually to sing parts of it all around the country and the world. It is easy to find YouTube videos of choruses and the public singing the wonderful “Hallelujah Chorus” in train stations and halls as bystanders join in happily.

Marion P. Gray will conduct the work, with Robert J. Earle accompanying at the organ. Soloists will be Stephanie Lawler, soprano; Juni Shepardson, mezzo soprano; Scott Dyer, tenor; and Jim O’Brien, bass-baritone.
