A Flannel Shirt Pumpkin Pie Contra Dance has been set for Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Bowdoin College Schwarz Outdoor Leadership Center, 39 Harpswell Road.

The evening will begin with an hour-long family dance, followed by a contra dance from 8 to 11 p.m. and a fireside sing from 11 p.m. to midnight. Music will be provided by Sassafras Stomp with John McIntyre calling.

Proceeds will benefit the Flannel Shirt Fund, which was founded in 2008 in honor of Joel Larsen Cartwright of Waldoboro, a 2006 graduate of Bowdoin and chief founder of the Bowdoin Organic Garden. The Flannel Shirt Fund gives grants to programs across the state of Maine that connect children with gardens and local farms to schools. Advocating through action, the Flannel Shirt Fund seeks to amp up the interest in eating local, living local, and enjoying music, art and each other’s company.
