The Dam Blues Fest will host The Blind Lemons Saturday, Nov. 20 from 8:30 to 11 p.m. at the downtown Damariscotta River Grill, Main Street/Business Route 1. Formed in 1990, The Blind Lemons is one of the cornerstone bands of the Maine blues scene and features seasoned musicians Bub Lynch (drums), Don Whitcomb (bass), Jimé Racine (guitar/vocals) and Tommy Renino (blues harp/keyboards/vocals).

The monthly blues nights for November and December are held in conjunction with Christmas Family Matters, a 10-year-old organization that collects food and gifts for needy families in each Lincoln County town. A portion of the $5 cover charge will go to the charity. In December, the monthly series will host the popular Eric Green Party Saturday, Dec. 18. This concert will be a Christmas party.

To start off 2011, there will be a Dam Blues Jam and barbecue Saturday, Jan. 8 from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Wells Hussey American Legion Post 42, Business Route 1. Most of the bands that played the  Damariscotta area in 2010 will be performing; each band will do a short 25-minute set. An all-star pro jam will lead up to featured headline act Racky Thomas. The former Boston Blues Society winner promises to rick the winter weekend with his Chicago/swing jump style of blues. Thomas has performed in Asia, Europe and all over United States, and he has opened and played with some of the best. There will be a $7 cover charge at the door; tickets are available in advance at dambluesfest.com. A portion of proceeds will benefit music lessons to an aspiring young student of the blues in the community.
