RDHS annual holiday craft fair Dec. 4

ROCKLAND — The Rockland District High School is pleased to announce that the annual holiday craft fair will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rockland District High School gymnasium, 400 Broadway. There is no admission charge.

Crafters from the Midcoast area will showcase beautifully designed handmade products; for example, wreaths, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, knitted items, floral arrangements, woodcraft, soap, candles, and more.

The concession stand will feature homemade desserts, breads, and soups. Patrons may purchase a raffle ticket in order to participate in the drawings that will take place throughout the day.

Knox County Retired Teachers Association

ROCKPORT — The Knox County Retired Teachers Association will meet Wednesday, Dec. 8 at The Offshore Restaurant. The meeting will include a musical program by Kate and Carolyn Wiley.

Local amnesty events scheduled

Find the spirit of Christmas by writing and/or making cards of support and good cheer to prisoners of conscience and human rights workers around the world on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2 to 5 p.m. in the Picker Room at the Camden Public Library. On Thursday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m., the Watershed School’s Amnesty Group will host a write-a-thon at the Lincoln Street Center in Rockland in conjunction with Amnesty International’s Global Write-a-thon. This event is open to the public. Please come and enjoy pizza, desserts, and beverages while making a difference.

Each year in the weeks around International Human Rights Day (Dec. 10), tens of thousands of write-a-thon participants in more than 50 countries host events and send letters to put pressure on the governments of countries holding prisoners of conscience, human rights defenders, and other people at risk of human rights abuses.

Warren Historical Society

WARREN — The Warren Historical Society will host its annual Holiday Open House at the Dr. Campbell House, 225 Main St., on Sunday, Dec. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. The public is welcome to tour the beautifully decorated house prior to the tree lighting at the Woolen Mill Park.

The Warren Historical Society will hold its annual meeting for the election of officers followed by a delightful holiday program by Carolyn Wiley and her daughters on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at the Dr. Campbell house. Families That Care Fundraiser

APPLETON — A fundraiser to help Melissa and Matt Maxwell and family in their efforts to adopt their foster children will be held Saturday, Dec. 11 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Appleton Village School. The menu includes pot roast, mashed potato, carrots, rolls, gravy, mac ‘n’ cheese and desserts. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children, $20 for a family, and free for children under 5. Also, raffles and a cake auction.
