Midcoast residents were casting their ballots Tuesday, Nov. 2 to elect a governor, congressional representatives, legislators, and decide on referendums.

In Rockland, 665 people had cast ballots as of 11:30 a.m. An additional 911 people voted absentee prior to Nov. 2.

Rockland has about 5,170 registered voters with 1,841 of them not enrolled in a political party. There are 1,676 registered Democrats, 1,439 registered Republicans and 213 Green Party members.

Candidates were at the entrance to the city’s recreation center, greeting voters as they arrived at the polling place. At 11:30 a.m., City Council candidates William Clayton, Frank Isganitis and Larry Pritchett were there as well as Republican candidate for county commissioner Steve Dyer, and state Rep. Edward Mazurek, D-Rockland.

Polls will remain open statewide until 8 p.m.
