“You can find it here.” That’s the theme of the annual Owls Head Transportation Museum’s annual Great Fall Auction & Flea Market that will be held Sunday, Oct. 31. From movie tickets to a Caribbean vacation, from collectibles to a brand new Fisher snow plow, there will be a wide variety of items up for sale.

The weekend event begins Saturday, Oct. 30 with a giant flea market and auction preview from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. The fun heats up Sunday with a silent auction starting at 8 a.m. Live auction bidding will start at 9:30 a.m. There is no charge to become a bidder and admission to the museum is free all weekend.

About 20 big ticket items will be auctioned beginning at noon. These special items include a week-long all-inclusive stay at the Divi Aruba Resort on the Caribbean island of Aruba; a new Fisher HT Series snow plow; a pair of airline tickets to London, England and a romantic getaway at Freeport’s Harraseeket Inn, to name a few.

The museum has received hundreds of other donations from local businesses including gift certificates for professional services, accommodations, dinners, lobsters, heating oil, auto supplies, original art, electronics, health club memberships, magazine subscriptions, household items and much more.

The auction includes several private donations made by members and friends of the mMuseum. These include pre-owned automobiles as well as antiques, office and home furniture, tools and collectibles.

A current list of auction items is available online at www.owlshead.org and more items are being added daily. Can’t make it to the sale? Absentee bidding is available. Visit the Web site for details.

Saturday’s flea market will consist of hundreds of donated items not included in auction. Proceeds from the event will be used to support museum education programs.

Donations will be accepted through Oct. 28. All donations are tax deductible within the limits of the law.

The museum is located at 117 Museum St. (off Rt. 73) in Owls Head, three miles south of Rockland. There is plenty of free parking, and refreshments will be available. For more information call 594-4418.
