The Novel Jazz Septet, which includes Northport’s Bruce Boege and Belfast’s Dave Clark, will wrap up its 2010 schedule Thursday, Oct. 28 at the downtown Skidompha Public Library. The ensemble will perform in the library’s atrium from 7 to 9 p.m.

The evening marks the final public performance of 2010, indeed a busy year for the band as it has performed a multitude of classic jazz concerts in venues and opera houses from southern New Hampshire to Downeast Maine. The monthly Skidompha/Novel Jazz evenings began with the observation that lovers of books often are lovers of jazz. Moreover, the superb acoustics of Skidompha’s atrium, plus the seating “in the round,” make it a great place to see and hear live music in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.

Performing will be Barney Balch on trombone, Herb Maine on acoustic bass, Mike Mitchell on trumpet, Boege on saxophone, Billy Friederich on drums, Clark on guitar and Mickey Felder on piano.

Admission is $10, $5 for young adults age 12 through 18, and free for those younger. For more information, call 563-5513.
