Fall festival at Thomaston library

THOMASTON — The Thomaston Public Library invites the public to a Fall Festival at the Library on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. To celebrate the season, there will be pumpkin decorating and face painting for children of all ages, seasonal cider and treats, free for all. The Hallway Bookstore will sell all books with orange on the cover for half price. Rain or shine. Benefit poker run

WALDOBORO — The family and friends of Brian Miller of Washington are sponsoring a benefit poker run on Saturday, Oct. 23 ( rain date Sunday Oct. 24 ). The run will be leaving Annie O’Rourkes Irish Restaurant and Pub on Route 1 in Waldoboro promptly at 11 a.m. The ride will end with a barbecue, 50/50 raffle, music and more.  All proceeds will go towards Miller’s battle with renal cancer. Lion’s Club community supper

CAMDEN — Join the Camden Lion’s Club at a donations only community supper to be held on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Camden Lions Club, Lions Lane in Camden. The community supper is from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Beans, cornbread, homemade coleslaw, beverages and a homemade dessert will be served. All donations will support the many worthy causes the Camden Lion’s Club supports.

Search for Union’s senior veteran

UNION — The Veterans Committee of Union is seeking help in determining the senior veteran living in Union. To help with the search, call Greg Grotton at 785-2651 or the town office at 785-3658 with the veteran’s name, date of birth and branch of service. The information will be used in the ceremony being planned for Veterans Day on the Common. Names must be submitted by Oct. 21.

Puchalski to address Waldoboro Garden Club

WALDOBORO — Katlin Puchalski, a gardening expert who works with school children will talk about the value of local foods and farms at a public meeting of the
Waldoboro Community Garden Club on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at the
West Waldoboro Community Club. It’s located on Route 32 in Waldoboro, about three miles south of Route 1. The talk is free and open to all, with free refreshments.
