In order to encourage the bottom line benefits of physical fitness among local employers and employees, the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Penobscot Bay YMCA invites member businesses to participate in a free Worksite Wellness sampler program sponsored by the Chamber and the YMCA.

The program will run for three weeks from Oct. 25 to Nov. 12 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 1p.m. A shuttle bus will transport up to 15 people from the Camden Public Landing to the Y, departing at 11:45 a.m. and returning to the public landing by 1 p.m. Participants may also drive to the YMCA in their own vehicles. Classes will run from noon to 12:50 p.m.

The Worksite Wellness sampler encompasses a variety of fitness opportunities giving participants the chance to sample classes offered regularly at the YMCA.

The schedule of weekly activities will be as follows:

Monday, Oct. 25 — Group Active

Incorporating all elements of fitness, Group Active increases  cardio fitness, builds  strength and improves balance and flexibility — all in a supportive group environment, with motivating music and a caring instructor.

Wednesday, Oct. 27 — Stability ball and core training

Activate the core and work on balance, strength and stability with the use of a stability ball. Floor/mat work includes crunches, hovers and back exercises to build strength and endurance.

Friday, Oct. 29 — Strength training basics

Work with trainer Dan Seefahrt to learn simple and effective strength training concepts and exercises with dumbbells and resistance tubing.

Monday, Nov. 1 — Group Power

This barbell program strengthens all the major muscles in a motivating group environment. Using simple movements like squats, lunges, presses and curls, Group Power is for all fitness levels

Wednesday, Nov. 3 — Zumba Gold

With its Merengue, Salsa, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Belly dance, Flamenco, Tango, and Rock and Roll rhythms, Zumba® Gold is about much more than a total body workout – it just might be the easiest way to stay healthy for life.

Friday, Nov. 5 — Lunch break yoga

Relax, renew and revitalize during this 45-minute yoga class. Gentle stretching, breath and meditative work will help increase  flexibility and gain focus and energy for the afternoon. Use a lunch break as a health break. Workout clothes are not necessary,  just clothing one can easily move in.

Monday, Nov. 8 — Group Kick

This electric 60-minute fusion class of martial arts and boxing movements will kick one’s cardio fitness to the next level while defining and shaping the body and self confidence.

Wednesday, Nov. 10 — Fitness Express

Turn a lunch break into a cardio/strength workout. Class will combine aerobic conditioning, strength training and core work. A variety of fitness tools will be used: core board, stability balls, weights and power bars.

Friday, Nov. 12 — Cycle strong

Hop on a studio bike for a 45 minute interval cycle class. Class limited to 15 participants.

Fit employees means higher productivity, positive attitudes, fewer sick days and in some cases, lower health insurance premiums.

Interested Chamber members should sign themselves or their employees up at the C-R-L Chamber office, 236-4404. Please indicate if the shuttle bus is needed between the YMCA and the public landing.
