On Oct. 8, River Arts welcomed guests to the opening of River Arts Gallery II at its new location in the red brick commercial building at the intersection of Route 1 and Business Route 1. The opening featured a group show with the work of 40 Maine artists than runs through Tuesday, Oct. 19, with a new show featuring sculptor/painter Kathleen Mack set for Wednesday, Oct. 20 through the end of November.

River Arts II accommodates a new gallery venue for rent to regional artists and new studio space for classes and studios not currently available in the River Arts downtown location. Gallery II offers approximately 1000 square feet of exhibition space.

Gallery II also enjoys high visibility for exhibitions in a venue that is readily accessible to tourists and people traveling on Route 1. At the same time, the space substantially increases the number and types of classes offered for adults, such as sculpture and ceramics and art classes for children. Abundant parking space adds to the advantages of the location.

Gallery II space is available to artists on a weekly or monthly basis for exhibitions and installations, programs and demonstrations. Artists may enquire at River Arts, 170 Main St., for rates and availability. For more informatiom, send e-mail to Linda Morkeski at info@riverartsme.org or call 563-1507.

More information and a calendar of events is provided at riverartsme.org. The phone number of the new gallery is 563-1508, and hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
