The St. George community and the Jackson Memorial Library has welcomed new library staff member, Devin Burritt. As Assistant Director, Burritt will be focusing on programming for children and teens, collaborating with other local organizations, and providing computer and Internet support to our staff and patrons as well as overseeing the library’s Web site.

Burritt recently received his masters of library and information sciences from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Prior to that he served in the Peace Corps in Lesotho, where he taught high school English, developed a sports team and created a community library.

When asked why he and his wife decided make the move to Maine, Burritt responded, “We were immediately charmed by the close, community feel of St. George and taken by the natural beauty of the Midcoast. The Jackson Memorial Library embodies all the great qualities of a small, community centered library: friendly faces, a strong sense of unity, and exceptional service. It’ll be a joy to be part of such a team.”

The public can stop by and meet Burritt during regular library hours. Visit www.JacksonMemorialLibrary.org or call 372-8961 to find out more information on the library’s offerings and events.
