Lavendier Myers, “Mary” as she is known to her many friends in Waldoboro, Peaks Island and in beautiful places all over the world, has delivered a group of new paintings to the Tidemark Gallery, 902 Main St./Route 220. The public is warmly invited to an opening reception Saturday, Oct. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Myer’s trademark high-powered colors and bold technique sparkle in her new Light on Water series. If art is about delivering a feeling straight to the heart, Myers knows how to do that; in fact, it is her very reason for making art.

“Although I am subjected, daily, to the tragic and toxic news of wars, floods, crime, corruption and violence, I try to paint in a way that allows both myself and my viewers to take a break … to take time to see a side of the world which remains peaceful, majestic, spectacular, delicious, and downright divine,” she said.

Her work will be featured through Oct. 30. Tidemark host artists are Audrey Bechler, John Blamey, Ralph Bush, Pam Cabanas, Ardy Greatorex, Holly-Marie Haining, Louise Price, Patience Sampson, Carol Wiley and new member Judith Imm.

Tidemark Gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 832-5109.
