The Women of Waldo County announced an afternoon filled with good friends and good stories as members join local author K. Stephens to discuss her book “The Ghost Trap.”

Featured on MPBN’s “Maine Things Considered,” and Time Warner Cable’s “Maine Street,” Stephens’ novel is the haunting story of Jamie Eugley, a young lobsterman struggling with the grinding responsibilities of a head-injured fiancée and mounting trap wars. The novel won several awards when it debuted last September, including as a finalist in the Literary Fiction category of the National Best Books 2009 Awards, sponsored by USA Book News.

“The Ghost Trap” is Stephens’ debut novel, which the Women of Waldo has chosen for its first book club book.

They will gather at the Cellardoor Winery on Sunday, Oct. 10 from noon to 3 p.m. for a complimentary wine and chocolate pairing with the silky chocolates of Black Dinah Chocolatiers and wine from Cellardoor Winery.

“We are so excited to host this event in conjunction with Cellardoor Winery and Black Dinah Chocolatiers,” said WOW! Vice President Mandie Sawyer. “This is a fantastic novel by a local writer that celebrates the Midcoast and we hope lots of people will join us for a great time!”

The WOW! group formed in March 2010 with the mission to support the personal and professional development of the women of Waldo County through various networking opportunities. WOW! holds general meetings and sponsors events monthly and is always looking for new members. The next WOW! general meeting will be held Nov. 3, with details to be announced.
