Noted writing coach and educator Teresa Piccari will be offering a gardening journaling workshop titled The Garden Journal: Observing, Living and Celebrating Life in Nature beginning Friday, Oct. 22. The weekly workshop will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays through Nov. 12 at Merryspring Nature Center.

This journaling workshop will marry gardening enthusiasm and technique with creative process. Participants will be guided in creating a journal practice with the garden as theme, exploring how life intersects with the garden, celebrating the tending and the harvest.

“We will write from a place of observing — using the senses to create lush description and root us in the present. We will use the journal as a creative repository and a place to nurture the spirit,” said Piccari.

Topics will include putting the garden to bed, planning next season’s garden, planting a legacy garden and celebrating the wildlife in one’s garden. Participants should bring a journal or notebook and writing tool of choice. Colored pencils are encouraged.

Instructor Piccari is a writer, teacher and creative process coach who has been leading writing workshops for 14 years. She is the proprietor of The Village Scribe, a professional writing and editing service meeting the communication needs of businesses and individuals, located at The Wellness Center in Camden.
