Picture This: A Day in the Life of Rockland is set for Saturday, Oct. 9. A “wet art” event for photographers, the event challenges local and visiting photographers to document life in Rockland during a nine-hour period of one day.

Picture This offers a great opportunity for photographers of all ages to capture the city, show their work and support Rockland Main Street, Inc., a Main Street Maine community program that enhances and protects the unique sense of place and economic vitality of Rockland. Rockland Main Street Inc. produces the Festival of Lights and the Lobster Trap Tree, as well as the popular Summer Solstice Celebration.

The photo shoot period will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Photographers may stop by Asymmetrick Arts, 405 Main St., during the day to drop off prints and download digital images. The photographs to be shown in a revolving slide show and sold at the 6 to 8 p.m. reception to benefit Rockland Main Street, Inc. For every $1 invested in the Main Street Program, $26 returns to the community. Proceeds are used to generate and sustain businesses and bring new investments to the community.

Entry fee is $15, which covers immediate download to the slide show, consideration for book and hanging of an 8-by-10-inch print for sale at the reception. Additional entries are $5 each for slide show/book only, $10 each for slide show and hanging. A total of three photographs may be entered.
