A traditional shape note singing is held the second Monday of every month; this month’s singing will run 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 11 in First Church Fellowship Hall, between Church and Court streets with the entrance on Spring Street.

The energetic four-part unaccompanied singing tradition dates from Colonial New England. Books (“Sacred Harp” and “Northern Harmony”) are available for loan and purchase.

No experience is needed, and newcomers are most welcome. Singers will tell about the recent singing at Common Ground Country Fair and the New England Shape Note Convention.
