Six staff members traveled to Boothbay to attend the free Open House for Educators at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens on Sept. 20. The children’s garden offers outdoor classroom experiences that students in kindergarten, first and second grades from the school hope to enjoy later this year.

Ten teachers of the Gilford Butler School each received a $100 gift card to be used at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club or online to help defray the cost of classroom supplies. Each also received a tote bag full of supplies when company representatives visited the school on Sept. 22. Staff and the three Wal-Mart representatives also enjoyed a delicious cake from the company, frosted in primary colors.

Worthy Matron and Patron Carole and Alfred Starr of the Warren, Maine Ivy Chapter No. 16 of the Grand Chapter of Maine Order of Eastern Star, visited Gilford Butler School on Sept. 27 to present Gilford Butler School with school supplies. Eastern Star is a beneficent organization, and one of its project this year is to distribute supplies. A large box full of pens, glue sticks, rulers and other supplies was presented with a letter from worthy Grand Matron Judith A. Wilkie asking that “these supplies be distributed to the children in need.”

The faculty of Gilford Butler appreciates this support of the students and their school.
