A show of new drawings and paintings by Waldoboro artist Dozier Bell will open with a 5 to 7 p.m. reception Thursday, Sept. 30 at Aucocisco Galleries, 89 Exchange St.

The gallery also will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 for the city’s First Friday Art Walk, and there will be an autumn open house Saturday, Oct. 2 from noon to 5 p.m.

Over the past two years, the focus of Bell’s work has gradually shifted away from the period of the two world wars and imagery related to remote sensing technologies and toward images that are a combination of memories of her time spent in eastern Germany and stories from German Romantic literature.

“There is nostalgia in this body of work for an unknown pre-industrial world, and a need to picture how the earth will now respond to us,” Bell said.

The show will run through Oct. 23. For more information, visit aucocisco.com.
