On Friday, Oct. 1, Rock City’s Velvet Lounge series will present Old Town Road featuring Bob Stuart and Megan Rogers. Based in Rockland, Stuart and his daughter Rogers perform a blending of music from the sweet to the raucous, including songs of the sea and country, with more contemporary sounds to infuse new energy to the Midcoast folk scene.

Stuart has been performing for more than 30 years in the Midcoast area, building a reputation for strong vocals and talent on the guitar and banjo, not to mention his ability to put his own graceful mark on a song. Rogers has been singing by his side for most of her life, but more recently has been bringing her own voice and interpretations to songs new and old. In 2008, she and her husband moved back from the United Kingdom, where they performed in and around Staffordshire, England. Old Town Road has been seen locally at the Lincoln Street Center and this summer at Rock City and at the Steam and Rail Museum.

The music will run from 5 to 7 p.m. There is no cover charge; however, tipping the musicians is always encouraged. For more information on this and other upcoming events at Rock City, call 594-4123.
