Cellardoor Winery and Vineyard will host a special performance by Alice Tan Ridley, the subway-singing sensation from hit show “America’s Got Talent,” at its annual Vinfest dinner-dance Friday, Oct. 1.

Ridley is a native of Georgia and has been enchanting audiences since age three. She moved to New York City in 1971 and, since 1992, has been performing in the subways there, earning the moniker New York City Subway Idol. Most recently, at age 58, she decided to take a leap of faith and audition for “America’s Got Talent.” Her raw power and charm immediately resonated with both the judges and the audience, and she was sent to Las Vegas to compete in the finals. While she did not make it all the way to the end, she won the hearts of America and has built an unbelievable fan base.

Cellardoor’s guests can see Ridley perform in the unique setting of the beautifully Tuscan-themed tent in the Vineyard, where a stage under the stars offers a breathtaking venue for an extraordinary performer who has been compared with greats like Etta James, Diana Ross and Tina Turner.

Vinfest 2010 is organized and produced by Bettina Doulton, owner of Cellardoor Winery. Advance ticket purchase is required; a $100 ticket for the Friday night four-course dinner and dance includes admission to Saturday, Oct. 2’s full day of food, wine, music and activities as well (Saturday-only admission is $10).

The two-day celebration of the fall season benefits Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Winery at 763-4478 or online at brownpapertickets.com.
