Thomaston Baptist Church announced that Pat Ross of Warren has been published.

Four years ago a group at the church launched the prayer shawl program under the guidance of the national organization, The Prayer Shawl Ministry, founded by Janet Bristow and Victoria Cole-Galo.

“In this very short time the ladies of our church have crocheted or knitted over 500 shawls, which have been sent all over the world to perform their many miracles,” the press release from the church stated.

Ross has made more than 200 shawls herself and designed her own pattern.

Her pattern has just been published in a new book, “The Crocheted Prayer Shawl Companion,” by Bristow and Cole-Galo of the prayer shawl ministry. The book of 37 patterns has Ross’ story and picture.

Prayer shawls are wraps made by hand with soft yarns, for those in need of comfort, love, help and in commemoration of special occasions. They are made with prayers and Pat has designed a special pattern worked “in threes” to represent the trinity. Upon completion, Pastor Wayne Sawyer blesses each shawl and they are then given or sent away. These shawls have made their way to many parts of the world, and the knitters have received notes of appreciation.
