Saturday, Sept. 26 will be an electrifying day for the Port Clyde Advent Christian Church. Former Pastor Larry Anderson will speak at the 10:45 a.m. service, and at 6 p.m. there will be a dessert cruise aboard the Elizabeth Ann.

Captain Jeff will power the Elizabeth Ann from the Monhegan Boat Line dock. Live music will be provided by the church’s worship team (including three members of the local band Dory in the Desert), and homemade pies, cakes, cookies and bars will be provided. Donations for the cruise will go toward the church building fund. There are limited seats available, so individuals who wish to go on the cruise are asked to call the church at 372-8292 for a reservation.

Larry Anderson, speaker at the morning service, was the pastor of of the Port Clyde Advent Christian Church for six years and is a well-known and highly regarded presenter. A native of Port Clyde, Anderson has many relatives and friends in the local fishing industry and peppers his talks with local references and color. Anderson currently travels the world in his position with Maretron, an international provider of hi-tech integrated computer equipment for ships and boats. He lives with his wife Gail in Rockland and in Phoenix, Ariz.

Anderson’s daughter Angela Anderson Pomerleau, who is lead singer of Dory in the Desert, is calling the entertainment portion of the cruise “Dory in the Dessert.”

Adult and children’s Sunday school meets at the Port Clyde Advent Christian Church at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays, and the service begins at 10:45 a.m. Prayer meetings are held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Men’s Meeting is held at different local churches at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
