The Medomak Valley High School class of 1970 held its 40th reunion at the Med-O-Lark Camp on Washington Pond on Sept 5. There were 51 classmates and spouses in attendance coming from as far away as Florida and Connecticut. They were joined by five classmates from the class of 1969, with one of them flying in from Texas.

The owner of Med-O-Lark Camp, Scott Weinstein, offered his facilities for the reunion. Weinstein said he was happy to be able to give something back to the community. Kenny Merrifield, caretaker at the camp, provided a tour of the lake on the camp’s pontoon boat.

The Mt. Olivet Masons of Washington catered the event with a wonderful steak dinner. After dinner the classmates danced to music from the ’60s and ’70s played by Jason Everett, a DJ from Winthrop.

The tables were decorated in blue and gold, the Medomak Valley colors. Lynn Burnheimer provided cut flower arrangements for the tables.

The class of 1970 was the second class to graduate from Medomak Valley after the consolidation of the high schools of Union and Waldoboro. Students come from Washington, Union, Warren, Friendship and Waldoboro.

The evening ended with the last of the dancers joining arm and arm and singing to the Beatles song “Let It Be,” the graduation class motto.
