In the past few decades, medical advances have created a new difficulty: How to die.

Dr Richard Kahn will present “End of Life Issues and Ethics” on Thursday, Sept. 23rd at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Memorial Library in Tenants Harbor.

Kahn observes, “It is much easier to talk about dying in the abstract than when you are in the middle of it. When you have invested so much in life it’s hard to give up.”

Topics will include: Palliative Care and Hospice, Living Wills, Advanced Directives, Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatments (POLST), and 5 Wishes.

Kahn is a physician at Quarry Hill and Knox Center for Long Term Care. He has practiced medicine in the Midcoast for more than 30 years.

This program is free and open to the public. For more information please visit www.JacksonMemorialLibrary.org or phone 372-8961
