Rockport residents are invited to a community picnic at Marine Park on the Rockport Harbor on Saturday, Sept. 11, for no other reason than to enjoy each other’s company and the last of summer on a beautiful harbor.

The picnic begins at 4 p.m., with hamburgers, generously donated by Aldermere Farm, and hot dogs on the grill, lemonade, and topped off with blueberry buckle (baked by Rockport residents) and whipped cream.

Members of Legacy Rockport, the local organization dedicated to raising funds for Rockport, will be on hand to describe the effort to enhance town culture, community, history, environment and quality of life. Rockport is rich in history and thrives on education, enterprise, the arts and agriculture. It is a diverse town, stretching from the blueberry fields in West Rockport to the chapels in Rockville, from pumpkin fields near Simonton Corner to the Opera House and harbor in Rockport Village. It is time to celebrate all that the town comprises, and especially its hard working citizens.

Plan on attending the picnic, and if you have any favorite Rockport recipes, take along a dish to share. Or, just bring yourself and family. All are welcome.
