The Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., will present an intimate evening with John Hiatt Thursday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. More than 35 years after the release of his debut album, Hiatt remains one of America’s most respected and influential singer/songwriters.

Hiatt’s catalog includes some of the most astute, wry and powerful songs in American popular music. His latest release, 2010’s “The Open Road,” hearkens back to a classic, rootsy formula, serving as the narrative of a reluctant bluesman who has made his life traveling the world to share his musical take on life.

Tickets are $60, and seating is reserved. They are available by calling the Strand at 594-0070 or online at
