Kirsten Cronin of Rockland will give a free Life Writing Workshop at Vose Library Saturday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. This will be a hands-on workshop in which participants will learn about and begin writing a memoir. They will leave with the beginnings of at least one story. Participants are asked to bring a notebook and pen or pencil.

A resident of Maine for nine years, Cronin has operated her own business, Kirsten Transcribes, for the past five years. She began working in the personal history field more than 15 years ago doing transcriptions for her mother Kitty Axelson-Berry, a founding member of the Association of Personal Historians, who has well-established business in Massachusetts assisting people with personal histories and the transcription of memoirs.

Cronin is passionate about working with people to preserve family history. In her business, she helps people with something as simple as transcribing journals, letters or diaries or assists people in more comprehensive projects involving photos or narrated memoirs.

“Everyone wants to preserve their stories, histories and memories. The process, steps and finished product will vary for everyone,” she noted on her business Web site.
