Camden artist Mike Rich represents Maine in “Urbanessence,” a group exhibition of New York Institute of Technology faculty, staff and artists from New York and the rural Northeast.

The show, which runs Thursday, Sept. 9 through Oct. 17 at the NYIT’s Gallery 61, features images of Manhattan, Europe and Maine. The gallery is located at 16 W. 61st St.

A large part of Rich’s work involves creating encaustic drawings of houses in the classified ads or houses he comes upon in his travels that are for sale. Rich exhibits regularly at the Leighton Gallery in Blue Hill and has shown his work locally and regionally, including a solo exhibition at Maine Coast Artists (now the Center for Maine Contemporary Art ) and a group exhibition at The Katonah Museum of Art in New York.
