Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 22, local Taiji practitioner Susanne Ward will offer a 10-week Taiji program focusing on the first 10 moves of the Chen Style 48 Form. The program will include form practice, qigong and push hands, as well as sitting and standing meditation.

Taiji Quan, also known as T’ai Chi Chuan, has been shown to improve strength, balance and flexibility, as well as increase energy, endurance and agility. It can help lower blood pressure and improve cardiovascular fitness in older adults. Other benefits include stress reduction and improved immune function. It can also help to relieve anxiety and depression, improving overall feelings of well being.

Classes will be held at Studio 22 at the Lincoln Street Center, 24 Lincoln St., Rockland, on Wednesday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m., beginning Sept. 22. The 10-week session is $90. For more information or to reserve a space in the class, please contact Susanne at 607-2122.
