Six avid young readers won bicycles at this week’s celebration of the Gibbs Library Summer Children’s Reading Program.

Helmets were included with the bikes donated by Mt. Olivet Lodge of Masons as part of the Masons’ Bikes for Books project. A record number of 72 children participated in the Gibbs summer reading program.

In addition to bicycle prizes, many readers won free ice cream cones at Sweet Season’s Cafe for reading 25 books or 2,000 pages. Little Willie, a Kara Schriner Klown, picked the winning tickets.

Emily Simmons says she was excited to win the boy’s bike because she read books to win a bicycle for her brother. The other bicycle winners are Elizabeth Bowman, Kaylee Duffy, Garret Hutchins, Olivia Vanner and Jake Bickmore.
