A giant, multi-church yard sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Rockland Congregational Church, to benefit the Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry in Rockland.

Ten churches and a synagogue will participate, and the sale will include baked goods and plants, as well as all manner of useful treasures. Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine (indoors if raining).

The community is invited to bring in tax deductible contributions to the sale. The church will be open to receive donations on Friday, Sept. 10 from 1 to 5 pm. No clothing, please.

The needs that the AIO Food Pantry fills for the Knox County community have grown in the past two years of economic distress. The need for more space led the AIO volunteers to build an additional room. The “souper” yard sale proceeds will help fund the building costs.

For more information, call 593-6206. Pantry hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to noon at 70 Thomaston St., Rockland.
