A Toyota sedan hit a tree on Broadway in Rockland, just south of Pleasant Street, at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2. According to Rockland Police Officer John Bagley, the vehicle swerved to avoid a dog that was in the roadway.

Bagley said there were witnesses to corroborate the description of the single-car accident and that alcohol or drugs were not a factor.

“There was no impairment,” Bagley said.

The only people involved in the collision were the driver of the Toyota and one passenger. Bagley said the passenger was transported to Penobscot Bay Medical Center by Rockland Emergency Medical Services personnel.

The Rockland Fire Department also responded to the accident.
