Thomaston and St.George recreation departments are please to offer a
a senior citizens charter bus trip to the Fryeburg Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 5 and a trip to Acadia National Park on Thursday, Oct. 14.

Join the recreation department as they “leaf-peep” thier way through western Maine going to and from the fairgrounds in Fryeburg. Once inside the fairgrounds, participants will be free to enjoy, at thier own expense, whatever the fair has to offer for the next three-and-a-half to four hours before boarding the bus for home (return time around 6:30-7:30pm). Besides the exhibits and wildlife, events scheduled for the day include, a flower show, ox pulling, dessert-eating contest and the first day of harness racing. Please keep in mind that there are about 100 buildings on 180 acres, so walking can be extensive. Some space is available on the bus if you need to bring a wheelchair, or other form of walking aids.

The St. George bus will load at 7 a.m. at the town office in Tenants Harbor. The Thomaston bus will load at  7:30 a.m. at the Knox Hotel on Main St. in Thomaston. This trip is free to resident senior citizens of St. George and Thomaston and $25 for seniors 65 and above, $35 for seniors between the ages of 50 and 64. A fall foliage tour to Acadia National Park will also be offered to Thomaston and St. George senior citizens on Oct. 14.

Join them on Oct. 14 as they head out on a chartered bus to view Maine’s spectacular coastal foliage. This year we will be to traveling to one of Maine’s greatest treasures, Acadia National Park. We will be touring the park by bus and viewing most of the parks highlights during peak foliage. Participants will also be given time to mill around the downtown, do some sightseeing, shop, browse around and grab some food. The bus will load at the Tenants Harbor town office at 7 a.m. The Thomaston bus will load at 7:30 a.m. at the Knox Hotel and return around 6 p.m. This trip is free to resident senior citizens of St. George and Thomaston.
