The Camden Hills Regional High School visual and performing arts department student of the month for September is awarded to Amber Karr.

Karr is a senior at Camden Hills and is a very versatile member of the music and theatre department. She is a member of the Camden Hills Women’s Choir, Chamber Singers and Concert Bands. She has been a member of the District 3 Honors Band and Treble Choir for the past three years, and was a member of the All-State Band and Orchestra in 2009 and 2010.  She has also performed with the Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra and has attended the Maine Summer Youth Music Camp for the past two years.

Karr developed a serious interest in music and theater in middle school. Upon entering high school she actively pursed the opportunities afforded her. Her study in percussion has consistently earned her top scores in the state. She has been equally involved in vocal music and has participated in several school musicals and plays.

Karr really appreciates all music as a form of on expression and therefore views it very special in its own way. Upon graduation, she plans to attend college for acting or music theater. Her advice to young students, “Try new things. You may be surprised at what you like.”
