A two-car collision on Mountain Street in Camden on Aug. 30 is being blamed on a glaring sun that obscured one driver’s vision.

The accident took place at 5:15 p.m. as Darlene Langille, 52, of Camden was heading west in her Chevrolet sport utility vehicle, and Kristi Williamson, 28, of Camden was heading east toward Camden Village.

According to Camden Police Chief Phil Roberts, Langille attempted to turn left into a driveway and pulled into the path of Williamson’s Subaru station wagon.

The collision caused both cars to spin, with the Subaru traveling off the road, down an embankment, and landing in the yard of a home.

No one was injured, and the drivers were the sole occupants of the vehicles. The Subaru sustained approximately $8,000 worth of damage and the Chevrolet sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.

Police attributed the cause of the accident to a setting sun that blinded Langille.
