Rockland Congregational Church, 180 Limerock St., will hold Rally Day on Sunday, Sept. 12 to mark the beginning of the church school year.

The 10 a.m. worship service will feature special music by the Chancel Choir and organ. Teachers and students in the Kids Rock Children’s Program, open to children age 4 to 12, will celebrate the opening of the worship service with Senior Pastor the Rev. Seth D. Jones before adjourning to study the same weekly readings as the adults in the well-equipped Christian Education wing.

Kids Rock students explore Bible lessons through art, theater, crafts and music as well as traditional study. The theme for this year is “Discover the Spark.” Nursery care is available for children younger than age 4. After the worship service, the congregation and children will assemble downstairs in the fellowship hall to enjoy a hot dog luncheon.

The church’s Youth Group, open to grades five through 12, continued to meet throughout the summer. Activities included watching movies, planting and tending a vegetable garden with all the produce going to the Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry, and climbing Mount Battie to enjoy a picnic lunch at the top. The Youth Group will meet regularly during the school year at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.
