Mr. and Mrs. Noah Steele of Waldoboro are proud to announce that their grandson, Joshua Steele, has graduated from Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy. During the 17-week basic law enforcement school, Steele received the Top Gun award for the class of 10-A.

Steele has been a deputy sheriff with the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff J.P. Robbins Jr. since February 2008. He began as a jail deputy in the Eastern Shore Regional Jail. He graduated from the 13-week jailer school through the Charles Fisher Memorial Training Academy in Portsmouth, Va., in October 2008, also receiving the Top Gun award. Steele is the only deputy from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office who received the Top Gun in both the jailer and basic law enforcement schools. Steele was promoted to a road deputy in August 2009 and assigned as the Northampton County Public School resource officer.

Deputy Steele was a correctional officer at the Maine State Prison from 2003 to 2005. During that time he was an original member of the newly reformed Maine State Prison Honor Guard commanded by Capt. David George.
